1923

Jack Sight Begins Sight Legacy

Jack opened up Sight Brothers Chevrolet in 1923, putting his two brothers Dave and Harry to work for him. When Jack passed away in 1957, his two sons, Bob and Bill Sight, took over ownership and operations. The store was located just outside of vibrant downtown Kansas City at Linwood and Gillham. This building is still standing in Kansas City.

Bob Sight Starts Bob Sight Lincoln Mercury

Bob Sight left his joint partnership at the Chevrolet Store and acquired Village Mercury in the up and coming Kansas City suburb, Overland Park, Kansas. Bob Sight quickly added Lincoln to supplement the Mercury franchise and Bob Sight Lincoln Mercury was born. Bob was the owner and operator of the store until he passed away in 1982. It was during this time that the Sight name became a staple in Kansas City. After Bob’s passing, his two sons, Rob and Tom Sight, took over ownership and operation of the store.

Bob Sight Lincoln Mercury moves to South Kansas City

As the primary operator of Bob Sight Lincoln Mercury, Rob Sight saw a great opportunity to move the store into a brand new facility and to a rapidly growing south Kansas City. He settled in then developing Martin City and had the ability to service more customers. Areas like Leawood, South Kansas City, Grandview, Belton in addition to Overland Park were now accessible.

Bob Sight L/M becomes Rob Sight Ford

Extreme Ford of Overland Park and Adams Ford of Belton became available for sale. Rob Sight thought South Kansas City needed a more centralized location to sell and service Fords and Rob made that happen. He moved Lincoln Mercury out and replaced it with Ford after purchasing the available dealerships. Rob decided to rename the dealership after his own namesake and Rob Sight Ford came to be.
